Faith

  • Journey follows the infallible, inerrant, and inspired Word of God. The Bible was written by divinely inspired men and is a perfect treasure of divine instruction. It reveals the principles by which God judges us, and will remain to the end of the world, the true center of Christian union, and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and religious opinions should be tried.

    II Timothy 3:16, 17; II Peter 1:19, 20, 21

  • God is an intelligent, spiritual, and personal Being. He is all powerful, all knowing, and ever present. He is the Creator, Redeemer, Preserver, and Ruler of the universe. He is infinite in holiness, and all other perfections.

God has revealed himself to us as the Holy Trinity made up of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each are with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being.

    Exodus 20:2, 3; I Corinthians 8:6; Revelation 4:11

  • God reigns with providential care over His universe, His creatures, and the flow of human history according to His Grace. He is the Father in truth to those who become children of God through faith in Jesus Christ.

  • Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, conceived of the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He is perfectly revealed, and performed the will of God. He took upon himself human nature with all of its demands and necessities. He identified Himself completely with mankind, yet he was completely without sin.

His substitutionary death on the cross provided for the redemption of mankind from sin. He was raised from the dead with a glorified body and appeared to His disciples, and many others. He ascended into heaven and is now exalted at the right hand of God.

Jesus is the the One Mediator, fully God yet fully man, and effected the reconciliation between God and man. He will return in power and glory to judge the world and to consummate His redemptive mission.

    Genesis 3:15; Isaiah 7:14; 9:6; 53:1ff; Micah 5:2; Luke 1:30-35; 24:34-39; John 1:1-2; 20:20; Acts 2:22-6; Rom. 3:25-26; Heb. 1:3; 2:17; 4:14-15; 7:25; 10:1-14

  • The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, and fully divine. He inspired holy men of old to author the scriptures. Through Him, he illuminates scripture, and enables mankind to understand truth.

The Holy Spirit exalts Christ, calls men to the Savior, and effects regeneration. At the moment of regeneration, He baptizes every believer into the Body of Christ. He seals the believer unto the day of final redemption. His presence in the Christian is the guarantee that God will bring the believer into the fullness of the stature of Christ.

He convicts men of sin, righteousness, and judgement. He cultivates Christian character, comforts believers, and bestows the spiritual gifts by which they serve God through His church.

    Genesis 1:1-3; Matthew 10:8, 28:19; Mark 16:14-18; John 14:16, 17, 26; 16:8-11; Acts 2:22; I Cor. 13:8; Hebrews 2:1-4, 9:14

  • Satan is the unholy ruler of this age and of the powers of darkness. As God's final judgement of him, he will be cast into the lake of Fire.

    Matthew 4:1-11; Revelation 20:10.

  • Man was created by God and in innocence. Adam voluntarily transgressed God, and fell from his sinless state. As a result, all of mankind has inherited his sinful state and are totally depraved, and are sinners by nature, conduct, and therefore are under just condemnation without excuse.

    Genesis 3:1-6, 24; Romans 1:18-32, 3:10-19, 5:12, 19

  • There is NO salvation apart from personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, Acts 16:31.

Salvation involves the redemption of the whole man. It is offered freely to all who repent of sin (Luke 13:1-3; 15:7, Romans 2:4), and accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior--who by His own blood, obtained eternal redemption for the believer. Salvation is instantaneous (no process for), and permanent; Salvation is eternal.

Salvation incudes: Regeneration, Justification, Sanctification, and Glorification.

    Isaiah 53:11; Zechariah 13:1; Acts 13:39; Romans 5:1, 9; 8:1; II Corinthians 5:18-21

  • Belief in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior is an action that grants you eternal life, John 3:16-18, 10:28-30; Philippians 1:6.

    John 17:17; I Corinthians 1:30; II Cor. 3:18; Ephesians 5:25, 26; I Thessalonians 4:3, 4; Hebrews 3:1

  • Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience which symbolizes the believer's faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Savior. It also symbolizes their death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus.

    Matthew 3:13-17; 26:26-30; 28:19-20; John 3:23; Acts 2:41-42; 8:35-39; 16:30-33; 20:7; Romans 6:3-5
